Bed down with spirits that still call some inns and hotels home
New England has its fair share of inns and hotels where the spirits of deceased residents are said to hang around, even to the present day. Many have stories associated with them ? some tales of heroism, some tales of violence and trauma. Most often, the spirits are simply bumping around, watching present-day goings-on, sometimes pulling silly pranks. Below are some New England hostelries said to be inhabited by ghostly presences.

Haunted Family Overnight -- Mystic, CT October 15, 2010 to October 24, 2010 Guests will see ghostly white whales slip through darkened water. Dare to touch a shark and get up close and personal with an animal with more than six legs! After a nighttime tour, guests will play fun games like “Ring the Witch Hat” and “Tip the Tombstone” and create a take-home craft. Everyone is encouraged to wear their favorite Halloween disguises, then transform into an aquarium animal with one of our special costumes. Guest will sleep among the main floor exhibits and enjoy mummy sausages, spooky pancakes, hash brains and more for breakfast. Crafts and activities are geared for children ages 5 to 12. Halloween Boo!reakfast -- Mystic, CT October 17, 2010 to October 31, 2010 Welcome Halloween with a breakfast fit for witches, goblins and ghouls on October 17, 24 and 31. Guests will dine on mummy sausages, spooky pancakes, green eggs and ham, hash brains and more. Afterward, help create a Halloween story; play games like “Ring the Witch Hat”; meet creepy, crawly animals; and top off the morning with a candy-filled goody bag. Costumes are encouraged. Halloween Haunted Pumpkin Patch -- Wethersfield, CT October 29, 2010 to October 31, 2010 Visitors ages 3+ try to make their way through the haunted pumpkin patch. Beware the spider web, creeping vines, jack-o-lanterns and other dangers! There will also be a pumpkin decorating contest. Location: 156 Prospect Street.
