Fourth of July Events in Connecticut
July 4th in Connecticut brings historic parades and 3-D fireworks Connecticut celebrates the Fourth of July with events as varied as the wonderfully silly Boom Box Parade in Willimantic, where townspeople march with boom boxes playing martial music broadcast from a local radio station, to a replica of an Independence Day from the 1870s, with period games and entertainments, at Mystic Seaport. Other highlights are a Turn of the Century Fest, with sack races and an ice cream social, in Litchfield, and the Great American Boom, a carnival of live music, roaming clowns, and rides, in New Britain. Many towns also host smaller parades and fireworks. Notice that some events take place on July 3.

Independence Day Parade
-- Madison, Connecticut July 4, 2009 The parade begins at 11 am and winds its way from the Stop and Shop parking lot, through the center of downtown Madison and into the Surf Club. The parade features approximately 100 community groups, floats, bands, clowns, antique cars, trucks, bicycles and a number of professional performance groups. It has been recognized as one of the best parades in Connecticut. Two new special categories have been added this year. A neighborhood float competition and show your pet. Sounds of Liberty
