Set sail for an exciting adventure and explore the Connecticut River, all aboard a unique vessel
Set sail on the Connecticut River with the crew of the Onrust, a re-creation of the vessel Adriaen Block built in 1614. Block was the first European sailor to map the Housatonic and Thomas rivers and sailed up the Connecticut River past the future site of Hartford. The unique replica, built over several years using traditional plans and methods, is the perfect way to connect with the River today while learning about the age of exploration, the fur trade, and early colonial history. River cruises — day sails and sunset sails (sunset tree swallow sails in September) — are offered most Wednesdays through Sundays and include same-day Museum admission. CT River Museum visitors can also visit and explore the vessel when it’s docked. Planning a celebration, reunion or other big event? The Onrust – and the Museum’s second vessel RiverQuest -- are available for private charters.
